Tips for keeping your child sleeping at Christmas

Here are my 3 best tips for keeping your child sleeping properly over the festive period:

1. Firstly, Christmas movies… and who doesn’t love a Christmas movie? Christmas movies are such an amazing way to spend time as a family leading up to the big day. As these films are typically lively and include high levels of stimulation, I would just recommend that you try and avoid watching them close to bedtime as your little ones need to wind down before bed.

2. Next, it’s the use of Christmas books at bedtime. We love Christmas books in our house. We normally get them out on the first of December to kick off our lead up to Christmas. Books are just such a good way to wind your child down before bedtime as well as an opportunity for some extra bonding time between you and your kids.

3. Finally, where possible, try to stick to the routine as much as you feasibly can. There will inevitably be different actives organised leading up to Christmas and obviously don’t avoid doing these activities as they are what makes this time of year so special, I would just be mindful that changing your little one’s routine TOO often can lead to longer term disruption if it becomes a habit.
